I'm trying to get my 30 hours for grad transitions and I was wondering if anyone has any opinion on which one would be the better choice. My parents say volunteering is better because now is the only time I can volunteer and sooner or later I'll have to get a job anyways. But my friends tell me to get a job so then when I get a paycheck I have cash to spend. Any ideas?

My parents say volunteering is better because now is the only time I can volunteer and sooner or later I'll have to get a job anyways. But my friends tell me to get a job so then when I get a paycheck I have cash to spend. Any ideas? Hmm...well, it's really your choice, of course. I wish I could be of more help, but I can see the good points of both...volunteering is always good, but making sure you have enough money to support yourself is also important... I don't want to influence your decision; I don't know exactly what I would do in that situation...I guess it would depend on how I was doing financially already. But you shouldn't feel bad for getting a job instead of volunteering...besides, maybe you'll get a chance to do some volunteer work sooner than you think... But also, volunteering is a good idea, and you probably don't need the money as much right now, right? Sorry, I don't want to influence your decision. The choice is yours. Listening to your parents might be a better idea, but...it is good to think ahead.

Just wanted to hear some opinions. Well, I think that maybe it really doesn't matter that much which one I do. I don't really spend much shopping compared to my friends, and I don't need to be financially independent yet (that's probably going to wait until after I graduate or something). I personally think I should stick to volunteering since it looks better on the resume when looking for a real job. It's just that all my friends are like saying how great it is to receive paychecks and get discounts and stuff.

(Off-topic, I just noticed you have 555 posts. ;D)
