Seriously, they never pose a threat to anyone, except in OoT when you have to sneak past them.
It's even pointed out and made fun of in TP.
When have the guards ever succeeded in...guarding? Take Minish Cap, for example: Vaati outright tells the King, Link, Zelda, the Minister, and the Guards that he's going to take Picori Blade.
At least the guards TRY to stop him...rather pointlessly, I might add. He simply raises his arms and POP! They're sent flying away. (It really does make kind of a popping sound)
Now, onto OoT: as if their cowardice wasn't shameful enough, the guard in front of the gate to Hyrule Castle, after being spoken to a few times, agrees to let Link through for 10 Rupees.
NOW we know how Ganondorf got in!
Perhaps the guard thought that little Link was an idiot, both for giving him money and for trying to get past the other guards after the gate. Perhaps he thought Link would never stand a chance, and would just end up right back outside, and be forced to bribe the guard again.
As always, Link is underestimated. But really, the guards must be complete idiots NOT to notice the vine wall that you can use to get past the gate...I mean, come on.
And you'd think, after all the attempted conquests against Hyrule, that maybe they'd do a better job of training their soldiers, but no.
At least the guards in Labrynna swarm you if you're spotted (in the Palace; outside, they just throw you out). Granted, they are pretty easy to defeat, but as Labrynna doesn't have the history that Hyrule does, it's a bit more understandable.
As Termina is a parallel world to Hyrule, it kind of makes sense that its guards are useless, too. They block Deku Link from leaving Clock Town, but not Sakon, the thief who steals RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR EYES. I mean, have you seen that event? Sakon's not exactly the fastest runner, but the guard just stands there and lets him prance merrily by, not even bothering to say, "Hey, wait!" or anything. Geez!
And on the Final Day, they say how sad it makes them to still see children wandering about the town...yet they do NOTHING.
Who knows, maybe, in the Doomsday video you see if you fail to stop the moon, maybe the guards grab the children and flee, but you just can't see it in the video. Not that it would matter, they'd still be crushed anyway.
Hmm...I'm sure there are more examples, but I can't think of them right now...Besides, that gives YOU the opportunity to post your own observations. Or, if you just want to share your opinion.
Yes, I know, I sounded a little crazy, I know it really doesn't matter, I just felt like saying it.
